Smear Your Mea's mission is to raise awareness of cervical cancer and encourage women to have a smear test. #smearyourmea has been an extremely successful outreach campaign and is community funded and supported.
Smear Your Mea was launched by kapa haka personality Talei Morrison out of frustration at not finding educational material that connected with her as a Māori woman. Cervical screening can be terrifying and invasive, Talei wanted to connect with women and health providers to improve the efficacy of the message in Māori communities.
